We would like to regenerate this valley through an education-centered project for young people. For the overall emotional, spiritual, physical and practical well being of everyone involved. It is through a project led, children led, open minded and democratic process of crating our shared vision that in our opinion will be the new way forward in human learning, smaller more focused.

This project will be based on the piece of land we acquire, and we hope to attract young people from the region and also from abroad to join us there and contribute to its regeneration – the land will be open to children as an alternative schooling choice to local primary and secondary schools, and to visiting kids of any age for their holidays’ duration.

The education offered will be skill-based in the framework of a free-school – children free to be involved in whatever project, class or workshop is happening at any point in day to day running and maintenance – rebuilding, clearing land, cultivating food, cooking, decorating, artisan-ship, music and singing, dance and role-playing, making play areas, going for treks, reading, I.T. system (water and power) maintenance…. The list goes on. For this service a nominal fee will be required for child admission – to be reinvested into the flowering of the project.

To begin this project we must acquire the usage of land by either rental or purchase – therefore we must raise money for deposits or rentals, and then for renovations of the ruins and their land. First steps:

• Dig and install a well, or clear-to-maintain if one already exists
• Rebuild the ruin(s) – repair typa-earth walls, new timbers and tiles for roof, concrete floor
• Clear portions of the land from invasive brambles + create veg garden and orchard
• Install basic infrastructure – running water, heating, bathroom facilities – to make the house habitable.

More details are to follow regarding how we’d like to run the school and of the various organisational options available to us as a group. At this initial stage our focus is on attracting for their investment like-minded people to the project. Such an investment may be in money, in labour, in donation, in energy or support, in general organisational help or offering specific subjects and classes to teach. WE are certain that for this project to succeed we shall need all the above.
